About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Control Management Officer for the Corporate Risk Control team within the Control Management organization. This role will support the Strategic Enterprise Risk Management (SERM) and the Chief Risk Officers (CROs) for Consumer and Small Business Banking, Commercial Banking, Wealth and Investment Management, Corporate and Investment Bank and Consumer Lending.

Control teams are responsible for partnering with the Corporate Risk teams to support implementation and oversight of control programs including Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Internal Control Policy (ICP) requirements, and Quality Control and Quality Assurance.

This Senior Officer will serve as a key individual contributor and must have demonstrated ability to lead and foster a collaborative environment that ensures timely communication, swift execution, and strong cooperation. This Officer will work closely with business leaders and control teams across Corporate Risk to identify, assess, manage, and mitigate risk exposures associated with their activities and operations. The person in this role is expected to exemplify a strong bias for execution, exceptional and deliberate planning, and leadership with integrity.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex initiatives designed to mitigate current and emerging risks with broad impact

  • Act as key participant in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the impact of decisions practiced in Control Management functional area

  • Monitor moderately complex business specific programs, and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk-mitigation strategies

  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area

  • Develop and implement risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls

  • Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations, and provide guidance in developing and implementing risk-mitigating strategies

  • Supports the implementation and execution of Control Programs ensuring effective front line risk identification, measurement, monitoring, controls and mitigation; Counseling business leaders on risk, issues, and remediation

  • Contributes to the development and enhancement of the business control environment through execution of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program; participate in RCSA workshops and engage in the development and implementation of new controls and action plans; Supports the Business with implementation of Control programs by providing consultative guidance

  • Promote design of new and enhance controls in partnership with business owners including effectiveness measures, implementation support and validation of effectiveness

  • Counsel aligned group leaders in the interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs and/or implementation of program elements

  • Perform analysis on large data sets to provide thematic insights to complete root cause analysis, identify risk, and develop remediation plans

  • Mentor and train employees across Control Management to support ongoing improvement

  • Maintain relationships with multiple partners in the business, Control Management, Independent Risk Management and Audit

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services Industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge across of the enterprise risk management framework, including: risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the enterprise risk function and the business

  • Ability to analyze, problem solve with demonstrated excellence, identifying and understanding stakeholders needs, and driving decision-making/resolution through a consensus building approach

  • A strong track record and business knowledge in corporate risk with subject-matter expertise as it pertains to corporate and credit risk

  • Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and confidently raise issues and through proper statue and authority, counsel and escalate early and when necessary

  • Proven leadership and project management skills to drive horizontal alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes

  • Engage with senior leaders with respect to second line Risk and Requirements, support cross control engagements and engage in cross location support

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience developing reports and metrics

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
