This role will report to the Sr. Manager, Data Science & Insights and will be instrumental in supporting the organization to achieve its five-year strategy. The person in this role will provide input and analytics expertise to teams and leaders in the organization and serve as a leader to help drive adoption and acceptance of analytical approaches.As a Senior Data Scientist, you will also be expected to mentor and train other data scientists on technical solutions. This role will have the credibility and technical acumen to influence business stakeholders and peers by providing analytical insight and transparency throughout development. You'll work directly with various cross functional teams to share insight and provide accessible statistical output. You'll engage with stakeholders to review analysis and recommend additional data points and analytical techniques to be applied. This position can be remote (US) or hybrid. #LI-Remote #LI-HybridCheck out our video Saving Lives: It's the Best Job EverACCOUNTABILITIES:Independently identify, analyze, and interpret patterns in our data using the appropriate technique for the situation, ranging from simple data aggregation to state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) methodsUnderstand our business processes and data so we can develop custom models that inform business decisionsEnsure our models are explainable to build confidence in our results and stakeholder trust, leveraging both statistical methods and advancements in explainable ML/AILead in the development of processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracyCollaborate with stakeholders and data partners to define data requirements needed to support the business processes, translate insights, and facilitate decision makingAct as the source of unbiased data-supported insights to the organization; confidently challenge norms when novel insights are discoveredLeads the mentorship and supports data scientistsLeads project subject matter experts in the evaluation of current business processes and identification of current weaknesses or inefficienciesREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of:Proficiency in Python and SQL.Experience operationalizing statistical and machine learning models in a production environment.Experience writing SQL queries with large datasets and complex, integrated systems.Experience in designing and implementing data applications, including deploying them to production environments.Expertise in data science, machine learning, data mining, operations research, and statistical modeling techniques, specifically for high-volume and complex datasets.Knowledge of best coding practices.Ability to:Choose the right tool from the data science toolkit for the task at hand, ranging from exploratory data analysis (EDA) to automated data pipelines in productionPrioritize work effort across multiple projects and articulate when a project is reaching the point of diminishing returnsGet up to speed and continue development on existing data science projectsKeep up with advancements in ML/AI and incorporate them to improve our processes and ability to generate insightsCollaborate with other data teams, including Business Intelligence, Data Governance, and Data EngineeringDisplay data visually, creating powerful presentations and stories which effectively quantify and justify value created to both analytical and non-analytical audiencesLead and speak courageously, challenge ideas a d propose alternativesGrasp the diversity of our systems and network and the ability to make recommendations and implement solutionsStrong attention to detail and excellent organizational skillsWell- developed interpersonal skills dealing with people of different cultures and stylesAdvanced communication skills to include writing and oral abilities to connect with a wide range of peopleDemonstrate excellent analytical, problem solving with a strong customer focusManage multiple assignments simultaneously with minimal direction or supervisionWork and deliver under tight timeframes.Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Finance, or other quantitative disciplines.A minimum of six years professional hands-on experience translating analytics including statistical modeling, data mining, and predictive modeling/forecasting into actionable insightsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)Master's degree or higher.Experiencing troubleshooting and resolving code errorsFamiliarity with bash or similar command line shellsFamiliarity with RBENEFITS:NMDP offers regular, full-time employees medical, dental, vision, life and disability, accident/critical illness/hospital, well-being, legal, identity theft and pet benefits.
