The pay range is $85,500.00 - $153,900.00

The Cyclone Team is a multi-product engineering team within Roundel, Target’s Digital Media Marketing. We are a core data platform team focused on the curation and optimization of data resources used by the Marketing teams at Target. The Engineers on this team are integral in the delivery and reporting of ad campaigns served to Target’s guests across multiple channels including web, emails, and other social channels.As a Senior Engineer, you serve as a specialist in the engineering team that supports the product. You help develop and gain insight in the application architecture. You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You show expertize in applying the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems. You are an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. You have the skills to design and implement the architecture on your own but choose to influence your fellow engineers by proposing software designs, providing feedback on software designs and/or implementation. • Use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain.

About you:

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of experience in application and data pipeline development

• 5+ years of experience working with large volumes and variety of data in a production environment

• 5+ years of experience working on Big Data technologies, such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, Spark Streaming, Oozie, and Hive

• Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Scala, Python, Java

• Proficiency in at least one of the following monitoring tools: Kibana, Grafana

• Expertise in the delivery of high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables with broad impact (high throughput and low latency)

• Aptitude in influencing and applying high data standards, policies, and procedures

• Experience writing and organizing code using multiple computer languages, including distributed programming as well as understands different frameworks and paradigms

• Computer Science foundational knowledge including competencies working with design patterns, data structures, and algorithms

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills of the impact of own work on the team and/or stakeholders

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in performance tuning data pipelines and data platforms

• Experience in automated testing and various testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit)

• Experience integrating with REST APIs and cloud technologies (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services)

• Knowledgeable of streaming solutions (e.g., Kafka)

• Exposure to containerization (e.g., Docker)

• Exposure to DevOps tools, processes, and culture (e.g. Drone, Jenkins, Git)

• Experience working with a source versioning tool (e.g., Git)

• Exposure to Agile concepts and frameworks

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
