They will program firmware for field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), design and implement electronic circuit boards, conduct system tests with laboratory equipment, conduct detector simulations using the GEANT simulation package and analyze data collected in the laboratory or in test beams. The successful candidate will work with other scientist to develop instrumentation suitable for future high energy physics experiments at the LHC or elsewhere. 50% Electronic system design and testing. 30% Detector simulations. 20% Communication - Documentation/presentations. Qualifications Required Qualifications PhD with a specialization in experimental particle physics. Experience with FPGAs and laboratory equipment Proficiency with simulation packages and the CERN ROOT package. Programing skills in Python or C++. Minimum of 3 years. Preferred Qualifications Experience with advanced particle detectors. Knowledge of particle physics.
