Shift Details: Full-time – 30 hours/week
Compensation: $17-19/hr
Location: 2300 Kennedy St NE, Suite 140, Minneapolis, MN 55413
About the job:
The Paraprofessional/Classroom Aide will work with teachers and staff to implement and sustain daily programming and ensure a safe, supported and efficient learning environment at VOA High School.
Essentials:
Monitor and manage student activity and learning during class, passing times.
Support daily goals and objectives described by teachers in every class.
Encourage students and offer one-to-one academic assistance to identified learners.
Work with students in small groups under teacher supervision to learn concepts and complete work.
Assist in preparing spaces and materials for daily classes.
Attend prescribed professional development.
Perform supervisory duties during lunch periods or occasional school activities.
Collaborate with teaching staff to problem-solve ways to proactively manage student learning and engagement with academic material.
Inform appropriate parties of any issues that require assistance or intervention.
Complete any necessary documentation on time and as directed.
Assist with daily attendance and/or performance calls and log contact.
Share anecdotal student information or data in staff meetings.
Assure program participant and employee privacy is maintained by being knowledgeable and following HIPAA privacy and security regulations.

Required Qualifications:
Preferred BA/BS
Experience in working with at-risk urban youth
Experience in working with youth who have experienced or currently experience trauma in their lives.
Preferred success working with diverse populations in learning environments
Must be 21 years of age
Crisis intervention skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills
Experience working as an integral member of a team
Ability to set and maintain firm behavioral expectations with teens and young adults
Ability to maintain focus on primary objectives in a fast-paced environment
