UMPhysicians Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Solid Organ Transplant in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Description The Specialty Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner cares directly for specialty patients in the inpatient setting. In collaboration with the attending physician and interdisciplinary team, treatment plans are formulated and implemented. Provides medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Coordinates and facilitates the delivery of care to patient and family within a multidisciplinary framework on an inpatient basis. Accepts accountability for maintaining and upgrading practice standards. Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioner also performs minor surgical procedures within their scope and realm of their practice agreement with their supervising physician. The PA or NP is an experienced member of the health care team who uses advanced practice skill with the supervision/collaboration of licensed physicians to provide comprehensive health care services to patients. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner engages in independent decision making about health care needs and provides health care services to adult individuals throughout their life span. Provides physical and psychological health assessments, patient education and counseling, orders and interprets diagnostic procedures, and manages acute and chronic disease conditions ensuring continuity of care for individuals in the communities served. Schedule: 4-10 hour days with a weekend rotation every 6-7 weeks. Position Qualifications: A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Adult, Adult/Gero, Acute Care, or FNP Nurse Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Have a current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Be certified through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges. Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 1 year experience as an inpatient PA or NP in Transplant Medicine or Surgery preferred. New graduates with hospital experience will be considered. Schedule: 0.75FTE (30 hours/week) Monday - Friday, four 10-hour shifts per week with staggered start times. Weekend shifts are required, approximately 8 weekends/year and shared equally among the team. Will receive equivalent time off the following week after working a weekend. No night call. We're Looking for a PA or NP Who Is: A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program. Eligible or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP. Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP's). Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges. What Could Set You Apart?
