Cashiers will ring a sale up on a register, collect payments, make change and issue receipts. They are asked to help with inventory by restocking shelves, unpacking new merchandise, pricing merchandise, inputting new inventory into the point of sale system, placing and displaying inventory onto the sales floor. This is a seasonal position expected to begin July/August - December. Hourly Rate: $18/hr Duties: Greet and assist customers in the store or on the phone Applying discounts and totaling customer's purchases. Collects cash, checks and credit card payments from customers. Make change accurately and efficiently. Processes refunds and return transactions as necessary Answer customer questions as they arise Maintain cash register drawer and reconciling at the end of day shifts Rearranges merchandise and displays Inures displays of merchandise are adequately stocked Receives and prices incoming merchandise Assists with tasks as needed included managing shelves, displays, and inventory Clean shelves, sales counters, floors, inventory room, and sales area Report any issues with the point of sale system Qualifications Qualifications: High school diploma or GED desirable. Ability to mulit-task. Previous cashiering, cash handling, or customer service experience preferred Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs pounds may be required infrequently. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Ability to work in a varied environment of hot, cold, etc. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and evenings About the Department The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a community outreach unit of the University of Minnesota's College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences. The Arboretum is located west of Minneapolis/St Paul and its 1,200 acres traverse the municipalities of Chaska, Chanhassen and Victoria. As a member of the American Public Garden Association and an accredited museum through the American Alliance of Museums, the Arboretum is a tremendous public asset.
