Mid-Level Substation P&C Designer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is seeking a mid-level Electrical Designer with experience in substation protection and control (P&C) design. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Minneapolis office located in Burnsville, Minnesota. This is an in-office position, but flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employees will need to live within driving distance of the office).
Responsibilities
Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage utility substations
Perform detailed design of one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA and communications
Familiar with conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, AC/DC service calculations and selection of substation equipment
The successful candidate shall be able to contribute to substation equipment specifications, proposal development, and project scheduling
Occasional travel will be required.
Required Education/Experience
Ability to function as a Mid-Level Substation P&C Designer in our Minneapolis, Minnesota office
Experience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards
Experience filling the role as substation designer for several projects occurring concurrently
4+ years experience in utility substation design as outlined above
Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience
Experience in 230kV through 500kV substation design.
Experience with BIM style design software (AutoCAD Electrical and Vault).

Base Salary Range: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
