Position Description This position is restricted to current City of Minneapolis Human Resources employees Assist professional staff by performing diverse and complex tasks in the delivery of a variety of human resources services or programs to City operating departments. Work Location: This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office. Job Duties and Responsibilities Interpret data and demonstrate knowledge of department and organization policies and procedures in the assigned area of responsibility. Maintain a variety of complex and confidential records. Collect and analyze data to create reports and related documentation. Independently answer policy and procedural questions from employees and the general public. Under direction assist in updating policy and procedures. Provide customer assistance and, independently or in conjunction with other staff, work to resolve complaints or provide clarification on policies and procedures. Set up a variety of computer systems and processes using a variety of computer software. Manage databases and create a variety of reports. May provide administrative and clerical support to more than one functional area. Prioritize and coordinate work schedule independently. Assist with system upgrades and testing as it relates to functional duties, participating in HR related projects. Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Required Qualifications Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED Minimum Experience: Three years of senior level clerical experience Preferred Qualifications: Post high school education Selection Process: The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience (100%). Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. The City of Minneapolis Human Resources Department reserves the right to limit the number in any phase of the selection process. Background Check: The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Applicants may be required to sign an informed consent form allowing the City to obtain their criminal history and/or verify their qualifications in connection with the position sought. Eligible List Statement: The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire one month after it has been established. Interview Selection: The hiring authority reserves the right to determine the maximum number of candidates to interview from the established eligible list. If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate's education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of rules, regulations, and laws affecting employee relations/personnel management. Thorough knowledge of database use and management. Good knowledge of human resource practices and procedures. Go d listening skills. Good customer service skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform research, reach conclusions and make recommendations. May require specific knowledge of a subdivision of the Human Resources Department.
