Job Summary:

Engineering Technicians perform a variety of tasks in support of Thermo King engineering and its end customers with respect to validation of product performance and design. This validation is done early on in support of New Product Development as well as post-sale support of customer units in service.

Engineering Technician II’s have demonstrated an ability to learn TK products and processes. They possess strong technical abilities and are honing their skills towards becoming a Subject Matter Expert. They are assuming more responsibilities and autonomy with their lab responsibilities.

This particular position will be supporting assembly and test activities of Thermo King Products within the Engineering Lab. Attention to detail, self-motivated and a strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting are key attributes a successful candidate must possess. This role will utilize computer systems to perform the work so familiarity with basic computer programs (Excel, Word and Outlook) is required.

Where is the work:

This position has been designated as On-Site.

What you will do:

  • Assembling and servicing of Thermo King products

  • Applying instrumentation to measure product performance (thermocouples, transducers, flow meters, etc.)

  • Deliver high-quality and timely results

  • Increase technical skills/knowledge of TK products/processes

  • Identify both short-term and long-term corrective actions to address safety issues

  • Identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement within current lab processes

  • Seek opportunities to take lead on department project(s)/initiative(s)

  • Review engineering drawings along with redlining any errors found and relaying this information back to engineering. CAD experience is preferred but not required.

  • Assist with the design and building of test fixtures.

  • Collaborate with others on engineering projects, designs, and process improvements.

  • Install new product designs and provide feedback to engineering about design improvements.

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and make repairs on both low (50 volt or less) and high voltage (over 50 volts) systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair TK products including refrigeration system, electrical system, fuel system, and control systems.

What you will bring:

  • This role requires three or more years of relevant industry experience (technical associate's degree preferred). A refrigerant license is preferred but the ability to obtain a license shortly after hiring is acceptable.

  • EHS Compliance, Risk Assessment & Control-Intermediate

  • Project Management 1-Basic

  • Engineering Process Excellence-Intermediate

  • Technical Excellence-Intermediate

  • Test Excellence-Basic

  • Knowledge of electrical circuits, controls, and components.

  • Mechanical aptitude to diagnose and repair refrigeration units.

  • Mechanical aptitude of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical charging systems, cooling systems, etc.

  • Innovative - coming up with ideas to assist engineering with design improvements, component layout and wire harness routing.

  • Ability to use computer programs; such as, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $

Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
