Salary See Position Description Job Number 25TRNS120TF011 Closing Date Continuous Description The Asset Management division of Hennepin County's Transportation Operation department is seeking an Engineering Technician or Assistant Engineering Technician to work as part of a team to deliver maintenance projects with opportunities for technical growth through training and working with other experienced professionals. This role encompasses a blend of fieldwork and office-based tasks. You ll be conducting thorough inspections of drainage structures and pavement conditions. Additionally, your duties will focus on plan production and data input. Engineering Technician, Assistant (Level I): $46,330.04 - $60,561.98 Annually Engineering Technician (Level II): $58,516.84 - $69,767.50 Annually Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Public Works Facility at 1600 Prairie Drive, Medina, MN 55340 (there is no public transportation to the facility), in a field environment within Hennepin County and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with flexible hours between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. In these positions, you will: For hire as an Assistant Engineering Technician (Level I): o Read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications. o Observe construction activities for compliance to the project plans and specifications. o Assist in asset inspection, data collection and documentation in the field. o Assist in the preparation of plan development and check item quantities. For hire as an Engineering Technician (Level II - including the above duties): o Read, interpret and understand construction plans and technical specifications. o Observe construction activities for compliance to the project plans and specifications. o Assist in asset inspection, data collection and documentation in the field. o Prepare plan sheets and verify item quantities. o Conduct inspections for culverts, curb, and pavement by collecting field data and documenting in ArcGIS, ICON (Infrastructure Consultant) and ATOM (Computerized Maintenance Management System). o May direct, train, and check the work of technicians in lower-level classifications.
