Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to support the Automation Development Team in Minneapolis, Minnesota in designing and building the automation and robotic equipment that builds world-class products. Electrical engineers are responsible for owning and implementing the solution from project concept to installation; this includes machine concepting, electrical infrastructure planning, detailed electrical design/layout, managing control panel and machine assembly, acceptance testing, and installation/integration at the factory. Since each machine is a custom design and build, the electrical engineer must have a desire to learn and implement rapidly changing technology to deliver the best possible solution.

Responsibilities

  • Own and implement the solution from project concept to installation.

  • Design machine concepts and plan electrical infrastructure.

  • Create detailed electrical designs and layouts.

  • Manage control panel and machine assembly.

  • Conduct acceptance testing and oversee installation/integration at the factory.

  • Collaborate with other engineers and engage in daily interactions with team members.

  • Motivate and work with diverse engineering teams.

  • Travel to other facilities as required (up to 15%).

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical design for custom automation using EPLAN Electric P8 (strongly preferred) or AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical concepts and best practices, including three-phase power distribution, control logic, and industrial networking protocols.

  • Hands-on experience working with and troubleshooting electrical and pneumatic systems.

  • Experience with a wide range of industrial automation hardware, including PLC hardware (Siemens and Allen-Bradley), VFDs, servomotors, DC control circuits, I/O and field instrumentation, and pneumatic valves and cylinders.

  • Proficiency in using US electrical standards NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, and UL508A.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with EPlan or AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Knowledge of control panel design and layout.

  • Ability to create and read electrical schematics.

  • Familiarity with PLC programming and control systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
