The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), Early Education Division is looking for an Education Consultant 3 - Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Education Specialist to join the Early Education team. This position will provide technical assistance and monitoring of data submission and data quality related to early childhood outcomes. Review data outcomes for individual districts and prepare data for ease of understanding. This position also manages division workflow, supporting travel and purchasing, procuring ADA accommodations, provides content management for division webpages including resource review and updating as needed, maintaining and updating distribution lists, document accessibility and, provide invoice review and payment approval documents including verifications of expenses submitted by vendors as it relates to program spending policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires 4 years of experience working with public school early childhood special education programs

Experience must include:

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and the delivery of early childhood special education services

  • Knowledge of early childhood special education and federal laws, regulations, policies, reporting and operating instructions

OR

A master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience

3 years of experience working with public school early childhood special education programs

Experience must include:

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and the delivery of early childhood special education services

  • Knowledge of early childhood special education and federal laws, regulations, policies, reporting and operating instructions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of the interrelationships between school districts, the counties, the state, and federal human service, and educational agencies.

  • Strong oral communication skills to delivery presentations.

  • Experience in writing clear and concise technical assistance, narrative reports, grant proposals, correspondence, so that subjects are clearly explained to diverse audiences.

  • Strong organizational, project planning and project management skills.

  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, procurement practices, and data visualization.
