The Data & Analytics Manager will provide leadership, management, planning and support for our enterprise reporting and integration technologies. This role will help define and implement the first ever data strategy for Knutson to grow the data maturity and educate the organization about data management, data cleanliness and overall data hygiene. This position will collaborate with teams across the organization to determine data requirements and provide creative, data-driven visualization and solutions to support the strategic business decision-making and operational reporting of the company.

The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with leadership to define and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with strategic business objectives.

  • Establish team structure, delivery roadmaps, implementations and support structure to ensure a data strategy that is scalable, secure, and reliable for business growth and operational efficiency.

  • Manage budget and external vendors to optimize resource allocation and support business priorities with near-term and long-term objectives.

  • Lead cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities.

  • Develop dashboards and reports utilizing approved tools, create processes and database structures, and manage and maintain business data for reporting to derive actionable insight from data to influence business decisions.

  • Manage the creation, compilation, modification, maintenance, and updates of data sets used by departments.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT on streamlining and automating data-related business processes.

  • Design, configure and maintain effective data platforms and data flows in collaboration with IT and third-party vendors.

  • Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, mining and engineering, modeling, visualization and communication deliverables.

  • Develop and implement quality controls and departmental standards to ensure data quality standards, organizational expectations, and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform ad-hoc queries and reporting from SQL and other databases.

  • Identify opportunities to integrate business data with that of other departments to provide new insights and information.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest software developments.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-starter, results-oriented, team-focused and able to execute multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Must be able to work independently but collaboratively across the different IT and business functions. Must be a hands-on leader.

  • Be disciplined and show high personal ethics and a strong customer service focus.

  • Ability to set processes to ensure data is validated and accurate for use in BI reporting.

  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in an environment of rapid change while maintaining enthusiasm and displaying sound judgment.

  • Explain complex issues simply and intuitively with willingness to challenge assumptions, communicate limitations, and flag trouble spots.

  • Demonstrate data modeling expertise including a strong understanding of data sources, relational and dimensional modeling, and effective uses of business data (validity, timeliness, and benefit).

  • Experience working with analytics and machine-learning deliverables.

  • High proficiency of current data governance principles, data architecture, and data integration techniques.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and modeling tools (MS Fabric, SQL, Python, R) and data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau).

  • In-depth knowledge of database management systems (SQL).

  • Clear understanding of cloud-based database platforms (Microsoft Azure).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, problem solve, and drive action.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in data strategy roles or having experience planning and executing data projects with business intelligence, data warehousing/management and integration tools.

  • 4+ years of professional work experience with data visualization creation to successfully deliver reliable and usable dashboards.
