Overview: As one of four Business Development Managers you will primarily support attorneys in our Energy, Eminent Domain and Real Estate practices. On a typical day you might be tracking down information to include in a proposal, coordinating target audiences for events and sponsorships, capturing or describing attorney experience, driving attorney thought leadership, coaching attorneys, and contributing to attorney training. Key Responsibilities Include: Provide leadership and support for marketing and business development activity at the department, practice and industry group level, including development of marketing and business development plans and budgets and driving implementation of same to meet annual and longer-term group goals. Coordinate request for proposal and pitch production for assigned practice groups. With the lead lawyers and the director of business development, determine overall strategy, assist in assembling lawyer response team, gather research material from appropriate parties, help to assemble relevant experience, work with pricing team, and finalize proposal. Work with the team to monitor and update systems to track business development opportunities for the firm, practice groups and individual lawyers. Work with attorneys within assigned groups to develop individual marketing and business development plans. Onboard and integrate lateral attorneys, from intake and launch, individual and client integration, and business development. Collaborate and coordinate with the Events and Sponsorship team to plan and execute events and sponsorships for assigned groups. Work with team to assure that marketing collateral for assigned groups are compelling, current and include the value proposition for use in business development activities. Drive marketing and brand-building strategies for groups. Oversee strategic content development. Work with the Communications and Digital Services and Graphics teams for group assignments. Work with the Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Public Relations and Marketing to oversee development of marketing communications and public relations strategy for assigned groups. With the Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Business Development, lead our external coaching program for new shareholders. Develop schedules, select and manage relationships with external coaches, and work with the firm's Professional Development management team to implement and grow attendance of programs. Assist in conducting training programs as needed. Read and study publications relevant to the legal profession. Keep informed of and share current trends within the legal marketing profession. Assume other responsibilities as assigned or apparent. Our Ideal Candidate Will Have: Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, communications, business, or journalism Five or more years of marketing and business development experience, preferably in a professional services firm Strong communications skills in all formats Executive-level presence, good professional judgment and maintains confidentiality While not necessary, you might have experience in some of the following areas: Knowledge of energy markets and clientele, including traditional energy, transmission, renewable energy, utilities and/or real estate. Previously worked in another professional service (legal, accounting, consulting) Worked in marketing or business development Former journalist or non-practicing attorney Project management experience (we love those who bring strong organizational skills) You love the law and working with intellectual humans (our lawyers are some of the kindest and smartest people who genuinely care - which is why we have so many people that have been with our firm 10, 15, 20+ years!) Intellectually curious Love to approach work and life with positive energy and a can-do attitude Enjoyment of handling multiple internal clients, fostering strong relationships and processing large amounts of information.
