Direct the clinical microelectrode recording operations to support the DBS clinical and research programs. This includes set up and maintenance of MER equipment, training of technical and OR staff, optimization of MER workflows and data collection. 2. Supervision of MER technical staff 3. Lead contact with Fairview OR staff for equipment maintenance, staff training and logistics required to surgical cases 4. Conduct neurophysiology research 5. Originate research ideas 6. Obtain research funding through grant proposals (e.g. NIH funding) 7. Collect and analyze data 8. Write manuscripts for publications 9. Supervise and mentor undergraduate, graduate students, junior scientists and postdocs working on related research projects Qualifications Required Qualifications: * PhD in biomedical engineering, neuroscience or related science field * Strong track record of securing extramural research funding and peer-reviewed publications * Expertise in clinical electrophysiology * Expertise with deep brain stimulation technologies for movement disorders, specifically Parkinson's disease * Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others About the Department The Department of Neurology at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a faculty member at the Assistant Professor position from candidates with a Ph.D or equivalent degree specializing in neurophysiology and neuromodulation technologies for Parkinson's disease. This position will be the Associate Director of the Microelectrode RecordingElectrophysiology Services Clinical Program.The clinical neuromodulation program supports deep brain stimulation surgical treatment for Parkinson's patients and NIH-funded studying the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease, novel applications of deep brain stimulation technology to the treatment of neurological disease, the mechanisms of deep brain stimulation and motor systems neurophysiology. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a leadership position within the DBS clinical and research program as an Associate Director with responsibilities including: supervising diverse teams of research staff, securing extramural research funding, publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts, teaching students and fellows, and participating in service activities.
