UMPhysicians Assistant Professor - Smileys Family Medicine Residency Program in Minneapolis, Minnesota
About the Job Providing clinical instruction to and oversight of medical residents and medical students in the ambulatory clinic, hospital, and other training sites. Providing didactic instruction (seminars, lectures, workshops, grand rounds). Mentoring and advising residents and medical students. Providing patient care at the clinic and hospital in full-scope family medicine, including obstetrics. Curriculum development, implementation and evaluation. Administrative duties, including participating in faculty meetings, serving on committees, participating in accreditation and other reviews, and representing the program at professional and organization meetings as appropriate. Additional Optional Opportunity: The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) at the University of Minnesota seeks a Vice Chair for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and the Josie Robinson Johnson Endowed Chair. This position will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the development and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the Family Medicine department. This role will work closely with faculty, residents, staff, and students to create an inclusive, and equitable environment that fosters excellence in education, research, and patient care. Qualifications Required Qualifications: MD or DO degree; completion of a Family Medicine residency; board certified in specialty; licensed or eligible in Minnesota. Preferred Qualifications: Three or more years of practice experience beyond residency completion. One or more years of medical teaching experience. Experience in educational program and curriculum development and evaluation. Experience in scholarly activities and in mentoring trainees in scholarly activities. Passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion(DEI)work and is interested in partnering with us to further our Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion curriculum. Comfortable attending and teaching inpatient obstetrics. In patient adult medicine is an additional opportunity. About the Department The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota was created more than 50 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians. Since then, we have been leaders in transforming the specialty through education, research, and patient care. We are the academic sponsor of seven family medicine residencies-five in the Twin Cities, two in Greater Minnesota. We are involved in medical student education activities across the Medical School's two campuses: Twin Cities and Duluth. We sponsor five fellowship programs-sports medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, behavioral medicine,clinical informatics, and human sexuality- and offer continuing medical education opportunities. About the M Health Fairview Clinic - Smiley's (formerly known as University of Minnesota Physicians Smiley's Family Medicine Clinic): M Health Fairview Clinic - Smiley's has been serving the culturally diverse South Minneapolis community for more than 40 years. Dedicated to providing the full spectrum of family medicine to patients of all ages, our providers emphasize prevention and wellness, as well as a broad knowledge of the patient in the context of the family and the community. Anti-racism and social justice work is a high priority. The clinic is located in the Phillips Neighborhood on the southside of Minneapolis. The clinic serves a historically marginalized and eco omically disadvantaged population, many of our patients are of East African descent and are first or second generation immigrants. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $52,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary will be in the range of $210,000 - $230,000. Total salary will be dependent on taking medicine and/or OB call, years of experience, and rank. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.
