Job ID360458 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyAcademic Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9403 Employee ClassInstr Fac/TC and Coord Cmp About the Job The Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) at the University of Minnesota is seeking a research faculty (assistant professor, Research track) experienced in radio frequency (RF) coil development with particular expertise in electromagnetic (EM) modeling for novel and optimal coil design, RF safety evaluation methods, the translation of such studies into setting safe operational limits for ultrahigh field (UHF defined as equal to or greater than 7 Tesla) human experiments, and UHF-MRI applications. The successful candidate will be expected to develop new RF coil technologies, computational models for evaluation of RF coil designs to improve imaging performance, efficiency, and safety in UHF-MR systems up to 10.5 T. The successful candidate is expected to work in a highly collaborative environment and interact with engineers, physicists, and scientists interested in applications of MRI technology in biomedical research. Qualifications Required Qualifications * Strong background in MRI physics and electromagnetics. * Experience in RF coil design and * Experience in evaluation of performance and safety related studies with RF coils. * Experience with Ultra High magnetic fields (i.e. magnetic fields greater than or equal to 7 Tesla) * Knowledge of common computational electromagnetic techniques (FEM, FDTD, MoM) and an understanding of the relative merits and weaknesses for a given simulation problem. * Ability to use commercial Full Wave EM simulation and RF/microwave circuit design tools such as Ansys HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, Sim4Life. * Familiarity with Matlab, Python or other data analysis and visualization programming environments. * Familiarity with Windows and Linux compute environments. * Communicating with other scientists and engineers to produce data for scientific presentations and publications. Degree Requirement: PhD in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Physics. PhD in medical physics, computer science, or biomedical engineering will be considered but EE or Physics would be preferred. Preferred Qualifications: * Familiarity with Siemens scanner environment would be highly desirable.
