Dentistry and Oral Surgery faculty have ready access to the Veterinary Medical Center's (VMC) team of specialists in 17 different disciplines, renowned clinical researchers, and advanced veterinary diagnostic tools and equipment (iM3 CR7 Dental Imaging, FireCR Dental Imaging, Mectron PIEZOSURGERY, Midmark 1000 Mobile Dental Delivery Systems, Midmark Progeny Imaging, Nomad Pro2 Portable Dental X-ray, Roku TV's & Xoran VetCAT CBCT, Siemens Prisma 3T MRI, Siemens Drive dual-source CT, Varian Edge linear accelerator and access to PET/CT & ultrahigh-field MRI) and therapeutic capabilities. Primary duties will include participation in the Veterinary Dental Service of the VMC. The successful candidate will participate in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of dental and oral cases (primarily non-urgent small animals, but also zoo/exotic and urgent/emergent cases). Will provide veterinary dental consultations to local veterinarians, faculty and house officers. Teaching responsibilities will include clinical instruction of interns, residents and veterinary students, participation in didactic courses, and continuing education to practicing veterinarians. The successful candidate will work closely with other faculty, house officers, and veterinary technicians to achieve a high standard of medical care delivery.The faculty member will also have the option to participate in ongoing clinical and translational research trials. Qualifications Qualifications include DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree, residency training in progress or completed with eligibility for certification by the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC), and evidence of outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must also meet the licensing requirements for veterinary practitioners in the State of Minnesota.Preference will be given to individuals who are board certified by AVDC and who have outstanding clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills. About the Department The VMC is one of the largest veterinary teaching hospitals in the nation, receiving over 40,000 small animal cases each year.
