Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Radiation Therapy Technologist - Cancer Center/Mineola. In this role, the successful candidate, under the direction of the Director of Radiation Oncology, Technical Manager, and Supervisor the Radiation Therapy Technologist is responsible to administer ionizing radiation as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Maintains efficiency for the daily operations of the department. Functions as an instructor of students.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides support for Radiation Oncology Department in regards to administering External Beam Radiation under Direction on Radiation Oncologist, within the Guidelines of NYS DOH. Follows Treatment Plans directed by Physician. Maintains documentation of information regarding treatment and setup techniques.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist, performs in tumor localization by using fluoroscopy simulation. Documents Isocenter Tattoo when Applicable.
  • Performs simulation, following Physicians Instructions of simulation techniques
  • Attends staff meeting to comply with policy and procedure on billing. Assists physics staff, according to departmental policy. Reports any inconsistency to supervisor. Ensures patient set up by taking weekly port film.
  • Enters, and interprets patient data into VARIS system. Runs report for patient s treatment field set up to verify parameters in VARIS against written parameters in chart. Uses Treatment program in VARIS to ensure proper treatment. Runs Daily reports to check billing
  • Reports any change or reaction in patient to nurse and physician. Maintains schedule book for patient appointments and schedule book for patient appointments and schedule program in VARIS. Assures all written appointments are recorded in Network accurately, and checked daily. Checks In-Patient List Daily Notifies registrars of patient status. (Inpatientoutpatient)
  • Maintains standards of quality for all procedures. Performs daily QA on treatment machines. Notifies supervisor, and physics if there is a malfunction of equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Technical Diploma Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiation Therapy. New York State license in Radiation Therapy OR temporary permit to practice. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Strong communication (both written and oral), problem solving, and customer service skills. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. Thorough knowledge of Radiation therapy.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $124,443.60 - $152,443.21 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
