Problem Gambling Coordinator
The Opportunity
Our Gambling Support and Wellness Center is seeking a Problem Gambling Coordinator to offer individual, group, and family counseling to individuals and families experiencing problem gambling issues.
The Problem Gambling Coordinator will present and provide outreach, awareness, and education to all groups and demographics in the community regarding problem and disordered gambling. The position will be focused on developing workshops to present in support groups, schools, senior centers, libraries, and other community spaces to reduce stigma, spread awareness, and streamline referrals to FCA's outpatient clinic.
Responsibilities
Attend and organize public, private, and special outreach events focused on educating the community on problem gambling across Long Island.
Plan and implement prevention, outreach and educational programs addressing problem and disordered gambling issues among at-risk populations.
Conduct intakes and screenings as needed and provide individual, group, and family counseling services.
Assist individuals and families struggling with problem gambling challenges by facilitating their engagement in services and offer additional support through the Family Treatment & Recovery Centers and Long Island PGRC.
Acts as a resource to Attend and organize public, private, and special outreach events focused on educating the community on problem gambling across Long Island.
Coordinate and conduct training programs with community organizations, faith-based communities, health centers, professional groups and others to increase awareness and engagement in recovery.
Represent the agency in a professional and knowledgeable manner and assist in the promotion of the program through information and education about its services to the communities we serve.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Service field required.
Minimum of one year of related experience required.
Excellent communication and public speaking skills
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook).
Valid and clean driver's license required.
Additional Information
Schedule: Full Time, Non-exempt
Salary: $31.87-34.07 per hour
Location: Hempstead and Hicksville clinic sites
