JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview The Biophotonics Lab in the Marquette University and Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Biomedical Engineering (MU-MCW BME) has an immediate opening for a visiting scholar or postdoctoral fellow position in optical imaging and spectroscopy for biomedical applications. Ideal candidates should have significant experience in two or more areas: endoscopy, fluorescence imaging, optical microscopy, optical spectroscopy, image processing, machine learning, and preclinical or clinical study. The initial appointment is for one year with possible renewal based on satisfactory performance and continued funding. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct independent or collaborative research on optical imaging, spectroscopy and sensors for cancer diagnosis, treatment evaluation, and therapeutic monitoring Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and reports Publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals Present to national and international conferences Mentor graduate and undergraduate students Perform other research-related duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A PhD in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, biophysics, or other relevant discipline. 3+ publications in peer-reviewed journals in one of the above areas. Ability to conduct independent research and strong problem-solving skills. Evidence of conducting collaborative research in a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
