The Headlines

In the role of Trade Compliance Manager working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, you will be part of the Americas Legal and Government Affairs Team.

This position reports to the VP Ethics & Compliance and works closely with supply chain, transportation, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and rules for imported/exported products to our domestic and foreign breweries, and protect and defend our brands throughout the global supply chain.

The Responsibilities

  • You will manage a direct report and support their growth and development through career discussions and consistent one-on-one conversations.

  • Oversee the company’s compliance with trade laws and import and export regulations.

  • Provide overall trade compliance guidance and support to stakeholders across the organization and project teams in researching potential trade implications for new and emerging product lines including tariff classifications, customs duties, free trade agreements, and other trade areas. Serves as an empowered official for the organization and the company's primary point of contact for all government agency inquiries.

  • Interpret and apply all trade regulations and laws while managing customs broker partners across the US and Canada, focusing on providing information to facilitate the timely clearance of our shipments.

  • Ensure our customs brokers and freight forwarders maintain acceptable service levels supporting the company’s import operations and export filings.

  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits of import/export transactions filed on our behalf to ensure compliance and accuracy.

  • Manage duty drawback and other special trade compliance programs to mitigate duty impact and recover owed monies for the organization.

  • Provide documents and support to drawback broker to ensure accurate filing of US Duty Drawback claims.

  • Partner with finance to pay customs duties that fall on the AES deferred tax report bi-weekly.

  • File TTB Cola Waivers for imported alcohol samples.

  • Manage foreign breweries' FDA registrations through the bi-annual renewal process.

  • Manage the US Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) certification to ensure compliance with US Customs and Border Protection requirements by partnering with our foreign breweries and business partners; share the company’s commitment to upholding the highest level of security in our global supply chain.

  • Educate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with all CTPAT requirements.

  • Maintain C-TPAT training and awareness program with targeted training of the Minimum Security Criteria.

  • Liaise with US Customs and other partner government agencies regarding import/export activities to build and maintain continued partnership.

  • Implement and maintain an internal compliance audit process to ensure all processes and procedures are executed effectively.

  • Lead regular audit activities to monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and recordkeeping requirements. Single point of contact regarding import and export compliance policies, practices and inquiries.

The Other Qualifications

  • You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in supply chain management and international business.

  • You have 8-10 years of experience in trade compliance matters including import/export laws and regulations, in-depth knowledge and understanding of the GRI and US Harmonized Tariff Schedules and worked for a large international company with multiple importer of records (IORs) and trade programs.

  • You have CTPAT experience and are a CGBP, CCEP-I or CUSECO.

  • You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • You love a challenge. You assess situations, identify root causes, and generate multiple solutions quickly and adeptly with your understanding of the business priorities. You adapt to changing business environments.

  • You build relationships and collaborate with all levels within the organization and with external vendors to get to the desired outcome.
