Your Role The Scientist III - Energy Storage Materials will develop and evaluate new materials science products in the field of battery technology for energy related research. The Scientist will have a deep understand of customers\' workflow and pain points experienced as well as knowledge of current and emerging trends and challenges in the field of energy storage. That understanding will be used to design new products that are easy to use and fit for purpose. Some of the key responsibilities of the role are: * Identify market needs and help shape a best in class portfolio of energy storage materials * Fabricate small scale energy storage devices and measure performance characteristics * Use a variety of wet chemical synthesis, purification, and formulation techniques as well as set design requirements and characterize materials * Scale-up synthesis and formulation methods and transfer the technology to the Production group * Work closely with the Product Management team, QC team, Business Development and Technology Development team, Production team, and external collaborators * Contribute to a strong IP portfolio including trade secrets and patents * Understand the business and customer needs, identify market opportunities, and contribute to strategies and tactics of product development * Represent R&D at internal and external events such as technical conferences, meetings, and customer engagements Who You Are Minimum Qualifications: * PhD in chemistry, materials science, or other scientific discipline with 3+ years\' experience in manufacturing or testing of energy storage materials Preferred Qualifications: * PhD in a chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or other scientific discipline with 5+ years\' experience * Experience in chemical synthesis and materials science including synthesis and formulation of energy storage materials * Knowledge of techniques and workflows used in materials science applications including energy storage devices * Knowledge of the materials science research market including companies (material providers and producers), major research areas including focus areas for grants and other funding, and gaps in commercially available materials * Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to write technical reports, summarize data, and make effective presentations * Self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills, be a team player, and able to work with cross-functional teams * Knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures * Basic chemical analysis (GC, mp, HPLC, IR, UV-vis, NMR). Knowledge of spectra interpretation and mathematics * Experience with techniques such as Ionic conductivity measurements, SEM, TEM, ICP-OES, powder XRD, DLS, Zeta-potential, XPS, GC-MS, LC-MS, and wet chemical analysis * Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills The Company is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
