Job Summary
Complex Coordinators (Residence Life Coordinator III ) are an integral part of the educational experience for residence halls and apartments at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. The Complex Coordinator is a twelve (12) month, live-in professional position that oversees the development of educationally-focused living communities and provides overall management of a residential facility of 350 to 1000 residents. Primary functions include supervision of Residence Life staff members (a Residence Life Coordinator II, Resident Assistants, and select hourly student positions), occupancy and facilities management, advising student leadership groups response system for a campus of approximately 4,300 residents. Complex Coordinators provide daily student development to residents through academic coaching sessions, behavior conference meetings, educational presentations or training opportunities. Complex Coordinators work closely with the Associate Director of Residence Life and the University Housing Leadership Team to create residential environments that demonstrate inclusive excellence, promote academic success, and enhance student retention to the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
Complex Coordinators (CCs) are also are part of the administration, development and maintenance of the Residence Life program at UW Milwaukee. As such, CCs are assigned to lead unit-wide committees and projects, assist or lead university-wide programs, initiatives, or committees, and spearhead the development strategies and events that create a robust residence life curriculum. As a result, Complex Coordinators will play significant roles in the following unit committees: Student Staff Training and Development, Student Staff Recognition, and Resident Assistant Recruitment and Selection. Residence Life Coordinators will also play an important part in various university-wide programs or projects, such as New Student Orientation, Panther Transition Experience, Res Life Events with Panther Athletics, University Housing Move-In, UWM Fall Welcome, Family Weekend, and University Housing Returning Student Self-Assignment. Finally, Complex Coordinators will be responsible for managing occupancy in their respective areas as well as developing curricular guides for their assigned community, which will include providing an assessment plan to help measure student learning and development in accordance with the University Housing mission statement.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for this position must have or provide evidence of the following:
Master’s degree from an institution accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Minimum three years professional(post master’s degree) experience supervising in a higher education or Residence Life environment.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in on-call duty and/or crisis response.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in management overseeing administrative tasks or units.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified applicants for this position will also provide evidence of the following:
Residence Hall Director experience with building management including facility oversight and occupancy administration.
Previous experience developing and managing budgets.
Professional staff supervision experience.
Previous experience supervising student staff.
Experience developing, managing, and implementing a training and development program.
Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively within your team and with department stakeholders on administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Adjudication of student conduct and/or student behavior issues (e.g., noise complaints, roommate conflicts, alcohol, etc.).
Target Salary Range $50,000-$55,000
