Job Description:

This position works in a team environment and uses engineering expertise and project management abilities to contribute to the development and manufacturing of power tools, batteries, and motors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Chief technical resource and mechanical engineering leader on mid/high complexity Power Tool New Product Development projects.

  • Provide clear engineering information to Project Leaders and the Global Engineering teams facilitating trade off decisions.

  • Establish test regimens for components and assemblies within area of scope in the project with minimal guidance. Deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations

  • Serve as a technical resource on areas of expertise and provide consultation / mentorship to others

  • Able to effectively manage a technical team and provide technical guidance on complex programs, to achieve cost, performance and schedule requirements.

  • Execute a wide variety of calculations and software aided analyses in the following areas:

  • Mechanical stress analysis

  • Tolerance stack analyses

  • Mechanism development and analysis

  • Analyze project risks and provide assessment to senior leadership – included but not limited to: Cost, Schedule, Procurement, Design, and Safety.

  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects - Adhere to timelines and excel in a fast-paced high-energy environment.

  • Collaborate with other engineers in technical solutions and implementation across domestic and global manufacturing sites

  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology.

  • Identify areas of continuous improvement across global labs and automation tech.

Project Management:

  • Lead mid to high level manufacturing projects, providing direction, guidance and engineering expertise to team members. Facilitate project flow involving regular contact with engineering, manufacturing and other cross functional teams.

  • Drive strategic cost, quality and delivery initiatives with aggressive focus on breakthrough process and technology improvements to achieve a substantial competitive advantage.

  • Lead new product development manufacturing processes and technology to support product strategy and product roadmap

  • Excellent verbal and written communication to make formal presentations regarding project status to team and management

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics, Masters preferred

  • 10 years of design experience.

  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD – ProE, Solidworks, NX, or similar as well as FEA.

  • Experience with FEA.

  • Deep mechanical aptitude is required including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical properties and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% (travel includes Domestic and International).

  • High interest in tools of the construction trades.

  • Ability to be interactive “hands on” with each upcoming engineering project.
