This role includes routine maintenance and general carpentry work on campus grounds and throughout campus buildings, requiring analysis of situations and taking appropriate action to maintain established maintenance standards. General Maintenance work may include tasks like installation of ceiling systems, cabinet making, general carpentry, floor repair, glazing, furniture repair, masonry repair and minor carpet repairs among others. This position is also responsible for using, as a guideline in daily work routines, the initiatives as expressed in the University mission statement as well as the Facilities Planning & Management departmental mission statement. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Inspect and repair various building components for routine maintenance. Work to include such activities as the installation of ceiling systems, cabinet making, general carpentry, wall covering material repairs, maintenance painting, and surface coating repair, floor repair, glazing, furniture repair, masonry repair and minor carpet and tile repair. 2. Undertake projects for the general remodeling of offices and/or classrooms, conforming to plans and specifications provided by others. 3. May function as a lead worker for a crew of two or more regular employees and/or student workers executing a maintenance task or performing project work. 4. Select and transport appropriate materials, tools and equipment to work location. 5. Knowledge of appropriate use of hand and power tools. 6. Maintain tools and equipment required in the execution of routine maintenance duties. 7. Maintenance painting, drywall repair, repair of wall covering materials and surface coatings 8. May be asked to help with snow shoveling and salting 9. Monthly inspections of fire extinguishers ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A high school diploma is required. Must possess a valid driver\'s license with a satisfactory driving record. Three years of experience in related employment requiring general knowledge and skills i the area of carpentry, painting, furniture repair and masonry repair is required. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds Job requires the ability to stand, climb stairs, bend and kneel for extended periods of time. Must possess the ability to climb ladders and work in confined locations. Must have the ability to respond to emergency situations during scheduled and non-scheduled hours. Must work within established safety guidelines.
