Job Title: Field Service TechnicianJob Description

As a Field Service Technician, you will travel to customer locations to oversee and assist with the installation, start-up, and service processes. Your role ensures the safe and accurate installation and operation of all VRC equipment, adhering to company procedures, policies, and customer requirements. This position requires a deep understanding of VFD setup and troubleshooting, as well as proficiency with electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to supervise and assist with the installation, start-up, and servicing of VRC equipment.

  • Ensure all installations and operations are completed on time and in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.

  • Set up VFD parameters and troubleshoot beyond just reporting fault codes.

  • Analyze and interpret electrical schematics, identifying voltage correctly.

  • Conduct 80% of work traveling and 20% on-site, including troubleshooting PLCs and ladder logic.

  • Provide on-site technical support and phone support from the office.

  • Maintain and enhance customer relationships to uphold the reputation for VRC quality and service.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of troubleshooting PLCs.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with VFD setup and troubleshooting.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience reading and reporting fault codes and electrical schematics.

  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, including pneumatics, electronics, and preventive maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with blueprint reading and hand tools.

  • Ability to supervise installation, start-up, service, and repair of VRC equipment.

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain customer relationships.

  • Passport required for travel to Canada and Mexico.

Work Environment

The role involves extensive travel, with 80% of time spent on the road and 20% in the office. You will work both indoors and outdoors in various environments, including offices, production facilities, and customer sites. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and high places is possible. The team consists of 5 field service technicians, and the typical work schedule is Monday to Friday with weekends at home. Each technician will be issued a company credit card and will make their own travel arrangements.
