The Assistant Director of Residence Life Education and Selection assumes the primary leadership role for community education including student and professional staff selection, living learning communities, faculty partner program, and behavior concerns. This role supervises and evaluates Complex Directors and Residence Hall Directors in numerous residence halls within a diverse residential community of student housing. In partnership with other residence life staff, ensures that a caring and welcoming living community is created consistent with the principle of a Catholic, Jesuit university and a departmental commitment is reflected to connect student\'s out-of-class experience with their academic initiatives. This role also serves as departmental liaison with various university offices/departments and serves as a back-up on call resource for residence halls and university apartments to provide consult to live in staff when necessary. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Responsible for the supervision of residence hall staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc. 2. Coordinates and plans student staff selection processes including but not limited to student managers, resident assistants, desk receptionists and graduate assistants. 3. Directs the implementation and evaluation of residence life academic efforts. Promotes and provides direction for academic and programmatic efforts within Living Learning communities (LLCs), in order to create a vibrant environment within each residence hall and University owned apartment. Assists in developing and implementing a faculty partner program in concert with the Executive Director. Serves as a liaison, where appropriate, with the Provost\'s office regarding Marquette\'s student success efforts and initiatives. 4. Serves as a liaison to the Dean of Students office in coordinating and overseeing residence hall conduct procedures and cases. Is a member of the University CARE team. A minimum of 5 years post master\'s degree experience with increasing responsibility in the area of residence life. Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including, Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong problem-solving skills in areas such a crisis management Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to deal with diverse constituencies. Demonstrated attention to detail, professional attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
