JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of the inpatient services as a member of the Department of Surgery- Trauma Surgery and Acute Care Surgery services. The Department of Surgery - Trauma and Acute Care Surgery is seeking a full time clinically strong and competent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in emergency general surgery, critical decision making and ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients in an inpatient setting located at Froedtert Hospital. The APP position requires a strong clinical competence in surgical critical care, critical decision making and ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients in an ICU setting. The APP will have a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe quality care Scheduling flexibility required to provide for an appropriate level of patient care coverage. Full-time with coverage expectations for the majority days on the weekend and rotational holiday coverage expectations. Would consider full-time with coverage expectations for both weekday and weekend/holiday rotational coverage with 2 out of 5 weekend coverage in a 5-week block. Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests. Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans. Monitors effectiveness of plan of care. Educates patients on disease and treatment plans. Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed. Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents. Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors. Department Specific Responsibilities Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring surgical intervention in inpatient environment as a member of the Trauma team. Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
