Description

Georgia Military College is accepting applications for a full-time Academic Success Coach to serve our satellite locations. The Satellite Academic Success Coach serves as a retention specialist and has primary responsibility for providing academic support services to their assigned cohorts and connecting these students to resources that will assist them with academic concerns. The academic success coach will focus on providing specific interventions to aid students with course difficulties, academic self-efficacy, motivation, financial and time management, basic and advanced academic behaviors, program progression and degree completion. Some travel is required.

The salary for this position is $40,000 .00 per annum

Major Duties

  • Provide individualized outreach to students, conduct interviews, initiate and maintain regular contact, build rapport with students, determine areas of improvement, develop action plans, and monitor student progress to include attendance and academic performance.

  • Develop, organize, and run virtual and in-person workshops during orientation, LDR classes, and as requested. Create, promote, organize, and lead virtual student activities, resource banks, support networks, and help learners who are underperforming find appropriate resources.

  • Liaison with faculty and staff to identify learners who are high-risk and send out requests for faculty to flag students in Starfish who are academically struggling. Monitor students’ attendance and academic performance.

  • Serve on the Academic Success Center committee as well as other college committees aimed at student success and follow all policies and procedures, and attend professional development training, site visits, and conferences to remain up-to-date on policies and procedures and resources as well as best practices.

  • Maintain student files and records; document all pertinent student information; update computerized information system regarding changes to student status.

  • Create quarterly reports utilizing the standardized data collection process and make improvements the campus needs in this area to improve this service locally.

  • Other duties as assigned

    *Criminal background check and drug screen must be cleared before any candidate may begin working.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree

  • Minimum one year experience as an academic advisor or academic success coach

  • Experience working with online technologies and tools, student retention system software, and learning management system software.
