What You Will Do

We are looking for uniquely talented engineers to champion our key transformation shifts and identify new ways to improve Structural engineering. Pratt & Whitney's Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is seeking an experienced, creative, and highly motivated engineer to manage military aftermarket hardware and support HMC (Heavy Maintenance Center) growth in OKC. The Structures manager will be responsible for mentoring and leading a diverse team across TF33, F100, F119 & F135 programs.

  • The Structures manager will lead an analytical team to validate the structural integrity of Hot Section static (diffusers, combustors, and frames) and rotating (disks and blades) hardware.

  • The manager will be responsible for the execution and disposition of field ANs, Merlins, serviceable and repairable limit analysis, and work alongside other Structures managers to inform and execute product improvement ECs. Effective integration – across disciplines and within the Structures community – is another key responsibility.

  • The M5 manager will lead resource planning initiatives including development of an OKC site growth strategy inclusive of outsourcing. Mentoring, coaching and career development of direct reports is a must.

  • The candidate will be expected to communicate technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, and internal / external customers.

  • The candidate will also be a member of the HSE leadership team supporting strategic development of the Structures discipline.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • BS Degree.

  • 10+ years of engineering or aerospace experience, or 7+ years with an advance degree.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and trending skills with experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.

  • Experience working to static and rotating Structures standards.

  • 3+ years of technical guidance and mentoring with advanced proficiency with ANSYS.

  • Demonstrated leadership in engineering continuous improvement.

  • Diverse and extensive analytical experience including analytical methods (FEA), hand calculations, and spreadsheet methods.

Hot Section Engineering (HSE) - Department Overview

Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units. Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.

What Is My Role Type: In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work. We’ve introduced role types to help understand how you will operate in our blended work environment. This role is:

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

This position is open to internal applicants only within Pratt & Whitney . To help shore up our military programs, we are looking to reallocate resources to USG direct charging roles and therefore consider this to be an internal to Pratt movement. We may look to open these opportunities upon more broadly once we complete the initial Pratt talent moves.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
