Zions Bancorporation Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in Midvale, Utah

We are seeking an Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join Zions Bancorporation. This SDET plays a key role in delivering our new Customer 365 experience with high quality and consistency. This role will actively collaborate with developers in manual testing and automate high value and regression tests.

Customer 365 is an innovative digital experience allowing customers to access their full banking relationship in one place. We are looking to transform all their interactions into an easy to use, well designed interface.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee various testing methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, performance, and automation testing.

  • Collaborate directly with developers in manual tests to quickly iterate and deliver features.

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using QA frameworks.

  • Lead the design and development of comprehensive test plans and cases, integrating continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) best practices.

  • Review test cases, requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely, actionable feedback.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including in-house and offshore development/QA groups, to troubleshoot and resolve issues, and explore improvements.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.

  • Background in developing and maintaining complex automation scripts.

  • Experience designing and planning test conditions, test scripts, and test data sets to ensure appropriate and adequate coverage and control.

  • Up-to-date with emerging QA trends, technologies, and best practices.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to advocate for QA requirements in technical discussions.

  • Ability to outline exact steps to reproduce issues, including platform and user context.

  • Knowledge of building manual test cases, working tightly with development, and selecting key tests for automation.

  • Experience in Web UI and API automation testing with code repositories.

  • Experience automating UI tests in Playwright is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Postman and SOAPUI is preferred.

    Location:

    This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.

    The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah.
