Robert Half Staff Accountant in Midland, Texas

Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team located in Midland, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for managing tax processes, conducting financial planning, and performing operational tasks such as market research and investment analysis. This position involves a high level of interaction with external advisors and requires a strong understanding of federal and state tax laws, as well as proficiency in financial analysis tools.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately and efficiently lead the organization and filing of federal and state income tax returns for various entities.

• Develop tax-efficient investment and estate strategies in collaboration with external advisors like investment managers, legal counsels, estate planners, and accountants.

• Support the family office's investment strategy by conducting comprehensive market research to identify potential investment opportunities.

• Analyze financial statements and performance data of prospective investments, including both public and private companies, real estate, and alternative assets.

• Assist in the creation and maintenance of financial models and valuation processes for evaluating investments.

• Prepare detailed investment presentations and reports, highlighting key findings and recommendations for decision-makers.

• Regularly monitor existing investment portfolios and provide in-depth performance analyses, which include projecting cash flows and assessing risks.

• Aid in the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering and analyzing essential financial data.

• Support family governance initiatives by assisting in the development of strategic financial plans and conducting educational sessions for family members.

• Carry out ad-hoc analysis and project work as needed to support the initiatives of the family office. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar.

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) processes.

• Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations.

• Knowledge and understanding of General Ledger management.

• Able to handle Journal Entries accurately.

• Familiarity with Month End Close processes.

• Experience with NetSuite software is a plus.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks software is a requirement.

• Knowledge of Tax Accounting principles.

• Ability to perform Financial Analysis.
