About you and this role
Dow Global Purchasinghas an exciting opportunity for aSenior Sourcing Managerin itsStrategic Sourcing Center. This position can be located inMidland, MIorHouston, TX.
You will manage Process Automation Hardware and Services strategies within the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) and Capital Sourcing Team. The Process Automation (PA) sub-category has been a very critical element of Dow’s operations and business performance/efficiency. It encompasses strong stakeholder management which involves Senior Dow Leadership interacting with Suppliers in this space and the multi-year Process Control Migration capital projects at Dow sites globally. You will create value by defining sourcing opportunities, analyzing market conditions, developing & aligning sourcing strategies, leveraging supplier relationships, and negotiating with suppliers and internal partners to optimize sustained value for Dow across their assigned portfolio. This requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in the discipline in order to functionally lead others to solve complex or unique problems. You will actively engage and support clients in the businesses and functions to ensure that sourcing requirements are known, and that supplier quality and service levels meet expectations, and drive supplier innovation that positions the supply base to meet the changing needs of a transforming Dow.

Responsibilities
Utilizes business acumen and leverages best practices to drive value from the market and influence stakeholders.
Responsible for the negotiation, execution and implementation of commercial agreements and related work processes in accordance with the global strategies within the commercial area.
Uses influential leadership to elevate the performance of their workgroup. Demonstrated depth of expertise in managing a portfolio with significant stakeholder, customer, and client impact.
Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions.
Lead the execution of Sourcing Projects using the Strategic Sourcing Process.
Maintain basic knowledge of suppliers and relevant market developments such as mergers and acquisitions, financial status, and changes in key personnel. Communicate where applicable to key stakeholders.
Utilize available Sourcing tools (e.g. e-RFI, e-RFQ, e-Auctions) to the fullest capability, to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Purchasing process.
Lead the development and maintenance of product Sourcing Strategies that will provide the basis for product supply plans utilized for capital & expense projects.
Partner with key stakeholder/functional leadership to Co-chair the Supplier Management Action Teams (SMAT) within the Sourcing Manager's product area of responsibility, ensuring that the SMAT's objectives align with the product sourcing strategies.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, and effectively manage quality, service & product performance issues with suppliers.
Work across cultures and geographies, as the position serves numerous legal entities of the company.
Execute contractual obligations within the delegated scope of responsibility and legal authority.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor's degreeorat least 13 years of relevant working experience or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
A minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience.
A minimum requirement for this US-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
A degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related discipline.
Prior Strategic Sourcing Manager experience or Purchasing experience in a leadership role.
In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of Source to Pay.

Proficiency with applicable Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.).

Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
Strategic versus tactical approach to opportunities.
Teamwork and communication. Ability to persuade others through effective communication skills (both oral and written). Develop and demonstrate negotiation skills.
Ability to look beyond category or local site for aggregation, value opportunity identification, and process simplification opportunities.
