Position: Grant Writer I Employment Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Vice President Marketing


Position Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. Essential Duties
  • Secure funding through targeted grant proposals supporting underserved, CDFI populations, and the ALICE demographic.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify grant opportunities aligning with the Credit Union's mission. Focus on grants for Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) populations, and other initiatives through organizations like the National Credit Union Foundation, Michigan Credit Union Foundation, and Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis.
  • Write grant proposals effectively communicating the Credit Union's mission, goals, and impact.
  • Collaborate with teams to gather data, stories, and testimonials supporting grant applications.
  • Monitor grant deadlines, requirements, and reporting processes to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain detailed records of grant applications, received funding, and outcomes achieved.
  • Prepare reports evaluating project progress and outcomes, providing recommendations for future proposals.
  • Represent the Credit Union at community meetings, including CDFI, Michigan Credit Union League, housing initiatives, and Chamber meetings.

  • Assist with the Swinging for Scholarships golf event and scholarship application process.
  • Engage with nonprofits and community organizations to understand the needs of underserved populations.
  • Build relationships with potential funding organizations.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in grant writing and CDFI-related activities.
  • Perform general office support functions.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.
