Actalent Supplier Quality Engineer in Middleville, Michigan

Job Title: Supplier Quality EngineerJob Description

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating discussions with suppliers and verifying that quality standards are met for their products. This role requires spending the majority of the day on the floor, starting with a plant walk-through in the morning and then communicating with suppliers during the other half of the day. You will lead the resolution of any issues related to supplier components for all current products.

Responsibilities

  • Identify floor/components defects, contain and support the floor with identifying replacement products, and ensure the product within standard gets back to the line.

  • Communicate defects identified to internal teams and suppliers. Internal communication involves the supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory departments.

  • Push suppliers to resolve issues by initiating corrective action requests and implementing corrective actions while leading root-cause efforts.

  • Implement and analyze metrics to drive down supplier issues.

  • Support the development of supplier management standards and report on supplier performance.

  • Write Return Material Authorizations (RMA) or Quality Deficiency Reports (QDR).

  • Communicate with the floor to articulate problems and instill confidence that issues are being resolved.

Essential Skills

  • Root cause analysis

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • Supplier Quality Engineering experience (3+ years)

  • Experience driving root cause analyses and corrective/preventative action with suppliers

  • Hands-on experience with products/processes (Containment Activities)

  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and standards

  • Experience with CPK, Systems Integration, and Quality Systems

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certified Quality Auditor

  • Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)

  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier experience

  • Experience creating a supplier score card/supplier rating system

  • Experience developing quality systems

Work Environment

Work hours are from 7 AM to 3 PM or 8 AM to 4 PM. You will work alongside other engineers and the Quality Manager. The majority of the time will be hands-on on the floor. Benefits include access to Udemy after 6 months, 6 paid holidays, and 2 weeks of vacation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $44.00/hr.
