Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Team is pivotal in our LEANPD-driven new product development projects. Their relentless pursuit of excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods, coupled with their drive to implement new technologies, ensures improved process and tolerance control. They serve as the linchpin between product development and manufacturing engineering, guaranteeing the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. Their support for Product Development in optimizing designs and piece parts for manufacturability and their design, development, and qualification of tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards are instrumental in our success. They also document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support the supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost, and cycle time, and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

Appliances Business Unit Industrial Engineer: The industrial engineer is a vital member of the manufacturing and process development engineering team. As a critical team member, the Industrial Engineer is involved in all new development and sustaining projects and is responsible for P&L management and accuracy through all stages of the PAC (Project Approvals Committee) process. Some duties include gathering costs for P&L modeling, capacity monitoring, make vs buy analyses, and creating various capital expenditure requests as needed. What you will be doing...

  • Support Industrial Engineering across several critical strategic productivity (material and conversion) projects to ensure smooth and successful execution.

  • Analyze and present scenarios for optimal process flow/cell design on margin-sensitive value streams.

  • Conducting time studies to drive visualization of fundamental process inefficiencies.

  • Working with cross-functional engineering teams to create cost models for P&L creation in new project development.

  • Identifying cost drivers for focused improvement efforts/manufacturing tooling or process options.

  • Engage and collaborate with plant finance and plant Industrial Engineering team members to accurately represent cost rate assumptions, parameter assumptions, and finance methodologies.

  • Create and submit capital expenditure requests for New Product Development and Operation for Business Unit/Segment approval.

  • Evaluate and communicate capacity from new product development projects to plants, ensuring no constraints.

  • Evaluate the capacity impact of proposed modifications on existing tooling/process/plant operations to help with sourcing decisions.

  • Creating phased manufacturing capacity plans for projects reflecting a volume ramp.

  • Collaborating with the Manufacturing Development Engineering team to fully understand sourcing decisions for tooling and processes via value stream mapping exercises.

What your background should look like:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Industrial Engineering or similar degree.

  • Experience with and understanding of manufacturing tooling and machining, molding, and stamping processes.

  • Ability to work towards completion of projects within defined schedules.

  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing tools

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including working effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Demonstrated the ability to organize and prioritize a rapidly changing set of objectives.

  • Capability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.

  • Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • SAP experience is preferred but not required.

  • Strong project management skills; Microsoft Project experience a plus.

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $66,160 - $99,420 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
