Job Title: Electronic Technician

Job Description

As an Electronics Test Technician, you will conduct a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical tests on systems, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts to ensure they operate in accordance with specifications. You will apply your knowledge of electronic principles to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation. This role involves troubleshooting non-conforming or malfunctioning products down to the component level using schematics and original specifications as guides. You will use hand tools such as multimeters, voltage meters, and oscilloscopes to perform electrical inspections and tests. This position requires collaboration with Engineers from Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and even end customers for testing and troubleshooting products, including R&D prototypes, inspections before shipment, and warranty or return claims.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct electronic and electro-mechanical tests on systems, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts.

  • Apply knowledge of electronic principles to determine and restore equipment malfunctions.

  • Troubleshoot non-conforming or malfunctioning products down to the component level.

  • Use schematics and original specifications to test products.

  • Utilize hand tools such as multimeters, voltage meters, and oscilloscopes for electrical inspections and tests.

  • Collaborate with Engineers from Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and end customers for testing and troubleshooting products.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to apply known electronic theory and test methods to troubleshoot and diagnose electronics down to the component level.

  • Knowledge of schematics for electronics, electrical assemblies, and sub-assemblies.

  • Experience in electronic assembly using hand tools such as oscilloscopes or multimeters for testing, repair, or refurbishments.

  • Experience with soldering, both Through-Hole and Surface Mount Technology (SMT).

  • Experience with electrical testing such as hipot tests.

  • Experience with AC/DC components, assembly, and using hand tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • AS Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, or a similar field.

  • Experience troubleshooting electronics with hand tools to the component level.

  • Experience with electrical testing and repair techniques.

Work Environment

You will spend 75% of your time at your bench performing tests or troubleshooting, 10% in calls or meetings discussing project loads or new products, and 15% working with Engineering, Quality, or Clients to improve designs or products based on troubleshooting or testing results. You will work at an electronics test bench performing component-level testing on electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies. These tests will be for products about to ship to customers and returns from customers. You will work in a team of 4-6 Electronics Technicians and will collaborate closely with your team, shipping, floor, quality, customers, and engineers.
