Responsibilities Performs technical and patient care tasks and continuous observation, interpretation, recording, and communication of cardiac rhythms of monitored patients in a variety of age groups to the Registered Nurse and physician. Those hired to work evening and night shift will perform EKG’s during absence of Central EKG Telemetry Specialist during break/meal periods or sick leaves not able to be covered by part time or per diem Specialists. The compensation range for the role is $23.69- 27.58 hourly Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and staff both orally and in writing. Minimum Experience: Monitor Tech or fluent with Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation. Six months prior patient care experience; Nursing assistant, Pre-Nursing or Nursing Student (with completed A&P cour Required Certification/Registration: Successful completion of course in cardiac arrhythmia interpretation (ECG Fundamentals & Basic Dysrhythmias: Part 1- A&P and ECG) with course completion certificate required. Successful test grade required after completion of advanced ECG interpretation class in order to remain in telemetry tech position. BLS certification current and ongoing. Those hired to work evening and night shift; EKG competency within 6 months of hire. Physical Requirements: Working Conditions: Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards. Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs. When assigned as runner, walking and standing most of the day and may require bending, reaching, squatting. Reaches for, lifts and carries light to moderately heavy supplies. Visual acuity and color discrimination is required. Ability to communicate effectively and to comprehend conversation. Capable of working assigned hours at varied times during the day or night. Alertness required during all phases of work. Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary. Ability to work cooperatively with members of the healthcare delivery team. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in the workload and work schedules.
