Responsibilities The Respiratory Therapist provides safe and effective administration of Respiratory Care Procedures as ordered by the physician according to the established standards and policies with special consideration for the age of the patient being treated. The Respiratory Therapist possesses a larger degree of knowledge in the pathophysiology of Respiratory disease along with strong technical skills and knowledge in clinical “matching” of current treatment modalities with those disease processes in infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The Therapist works closely with the medical staff and other health care professionals. The Director or his/her designee may appoint Respiratory Therapists to the role of Charge Therapist in the absence of a supervisor. The compensation range for the role is $40.05- $46.05 (CRT) and $44.72-$50.86 (RRT) hourly. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications Minimum Education: AAS or BS degree in Respiratory Therapy Preferred. Minimum Experience: N/A Required Certification/Registration: Current NYS Respiratory Therapist License. Minimum Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the NBRC. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the NBRC is preferred. New employees with the CRT credential must attain the RRT credential within 18 month of their employment with ORMC. BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification mandatory. Physical Requirements: Moderate walking, standing, and sitting. Some bending and lifting. Manual dexterity. Must have the capabilities of sight, speech and hearing enabling one to communicate with others and perform the essential duties of the position. Working Conditions: Will be exposed to infectious patients and potential hazards resulting from direct handling of inflammable and explosive gas. Frequent work in critical care areas of the Medical Center. Generally works in a clean, well lighted, heated, and ventilated area. Special Requirements: Must exhibit the ability to critically think. Must posses adequate communications skills in order to communicate effectively with the medical staff and other health care professionals. Coordinates all respiratory therapy and treatments with physicians and other health care professionals. Is responsible to the Charge Practitioner, Supervisor, Manager and Medical Director of the Respiratory Service.
