SUMMARY OF THE JOB :

Reporting to the Loan Documentation Supervisor of the Small Business Loan Center (SBLC), the SBLC Loan Documentation Specialist is primarily responsible for the administrative tasks within the small business commercial loan origination process commencing after loan approval and ending with the onboarding of the loan. This incumbent will be expected to prepare the legal documentation using third party vendor software and ensuring that all pre-closing requirements are fulfilled according to the Bank’s standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare and review all non-real estate commercial loan documents including promissory notes, security and loan agreements, draft advances, etc.

• Act as liaison between outside-counsel for real estate commercial loan closings and assist with resolutions prior to closing.

• Follow and resolve post-closing document exceptions, including UCC filings, insurance, mortgage recording, etc.

• Ensures that loan documentation is accurately transferred to Loan Servicing for boarding onto the core system.

• Provides exceptional customer service regarding inquiries and problem resolution for internal and external customers

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Loan Closing: Ensure that all commercial loans within the Small Business loan portfolio are closed in accordance with Bank policy.

  2. Product Support: Whether a bank customer, BSO, branch manager, market manager or loan servicing, the incumbent is expected to provide excellent product support to the customer. This may include collection calls, general customer inquiries or intra-bank training.

  4. Compliance: Adheres to applicable federal and state regulations and Bank policies and procedures, including OFAC, BSA, PATRIOT Act, Privacy and consumer protection regulations pertaining to the incumbent’s business line. Completes all assigned training by set due dates.

  5. Continuing Education: Keeps abreast of current developments in small business lending, including the United States Small Business Administration (“SBA”) Programs, as well as regulatory compliance areas.

    DIMENSIONS:

    Operate in a high-volume environment with a loan range of $10M to $1.0MM in aggregate bank exposure. Existing portfolio consists of over one thousand small business loans with an estimated five to ten new loan closings per week

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance or related field preferred.

  • Understanding of Loan Documentation with at least 3 - 5 years of related banking experience.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Functional knowledge of Laser Pro or similar loan documentation software.

  • Proficiency in Laser Pro (preferred)

  • Prior experience in SBA lending.

  • Paralegal certification preferred.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret corporate and individual financial statements and tax returns.
