RBC Bearings Senior Quality Engineer in Middlebury, Connecticut
Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Ability to comprehend, communicate, and improve quality standards driven by customer specifications for bearings industry, materials, and special processes.
Actively participates in Material Review Board assessments of defective materials then gives direction for containment, and/or disposition actions in a timely manner.
Independently plans and implements improvement projects to inspection operations at key manufacturing workflow stages which may involve
precision product inspection methods or gaging
programming high speed comparative gage systems or CMMs
approving or denying product release
organization or layout of inspection workstations
methods to monitor key metrics for scrap and non-conformities
Drives solutions to quality issues based on feedback from multi-disciplinary process owners or to meet goals established by the management team.
Leads internal audits to support QMS compliance to AS9100 and Nadcap certifications.
Demonstrates the quality system during customer or external certification audits.
Analyzes root causes, develops corrective action to prevent recurrence of root cause, participates in verification of effectiveness of actions taken.
Other duties as assigned to support operation goals.
Attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
JOB REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree, and minimum of 5 years of experience or the combination of work experience to the satisfactory of management.
Able to perform work under general supervision.
Occasionally provides leadership, training, and/or mentoring to engineers, technicians and inspectors.
Technical expertise in operations at the facility.
Ability to identify and seek needed information/Research skills.
ISO/AS9100 quality system knowledge
Skills in effective problem-solving, time management, and communication.
