Job Summary

**This person needs to reside in the Ohio or Michigan area.

The Regional Investment Consultant (RIC) is responsible for sales of Thrivent Funds, ETF’s and Managed Model programs. Position will provide sales coverage to Intermediary Advisor channels within assigned territory as well as assist in some national assignments.

The RIC is an external investment wholesaling position. RICs proactively interact with Financial Advisors through in person, virtual and phone meetings. They achieve this by mastering and utilizing extensive product knowledge, competitive positioning, sales process skills and case consultation skills. RICs are responsible for uncovering opportunities for placement of Thrivent Funds, ETF and Managed Models. RICs work with Financial Advisors from their assigned territory and back-up for national sales support when needed. This individual will also be responsible for developing and successfully executing upon a business plan, managing the territory, and understanding the greatest opportunities for Thrivent Investments

RICs provide sales and sales support to Financial and Investment Advisors within all channels Thrivent Distributors has access and selling agreements contracts.

**Total compensation consists of an annual salary, quarterly performance-based bonuses, and monthly variable compensation for a target comp range of $335k to $350k with unlimited upside based on territory sales.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive sales and market share growth of Thrivent Mutual Funds and Managed Portfolio. Help drive increase in Thrivent unique new relationships.

  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge/expertise of Thrivent Mutual Funds and Managed Portfolios products/strategies/technical tools through the educational and sales process with Financial Representatives.

  • Develop new and build upon existing relationships within territory. The strategy includes developing a firm rotation, implementing business plans around focus FR’s and firms identifying business opportunities. Manage external rotations to meet sales and activity goals.

  • Identify sales opportunities for Thrivent investment products utilizing solution-based concepts.

  • Fulfills in a timely manner required administrative/team responsibilities such as CRM data entry, call reporting, expense reports, conference calls and meetings on time.

  • Provide new ideas for product as solutions within financial planning concepts.

  • Collaborate with senior Marketing and Products, Field Distribution, and other executives to identify innovative product development opportunities.

  • Adhere to all compliance guidelines including use of pre-approved marketing materials, prospectus requirements and proper licensing.

  • Manage annual T&E budget.

  • Conduct client seminars and events.

  • At all times, conduct daily activities in the highest professional manner.

  • Extensive ability to travel in territory, 75 to 80%, travel-mostly overnight.

  • RICs may be assigned to Co-Supervise and will review product messaging and sales tools as needed to ensure compliance with securities laws and regulations. This responsibility will generally not exceed 10% of weekly activity, though may significantly increase as new products or sales strategies warrant.

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent ability to communicate complex investment product related sales concepts.

  • Expert level understanding of product features and benefits and their application to individual client sales situations.

  • Proven relationship building and management skills.

  • Strong entrepreneurial instincts.

  • Strong public speaking skills.

  • Minimum 5-10 years of financial services experience preferably wholesaling with demonstrated increases in responsibility.

  • Series 7, 63/65 or 66 or ability to obtain within management designated time frame.

  • RIC in Co-Supervisory Lead with back-up supervisory responsibilities to the VP of Thrivent Funds National Sales requires a Series 24 license within 90 days of hire.

  • Advanced financial services designations a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.

  • Deep understanding of competitors’ products in all asset classes.

  • Excellent ability to communicate complex mutual fund sales ideas as well as concepts about investing, capital markets and economic trends persuasively, combined with sales ideas for relevant for market conditions in effect.

  • Must be able to work independently and to communicate clearly and concisely.

  • A strong combination of sales and analytical skills coupled with an energetic and engaging style is required.

  • PC skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and sales database applications.

Other Critical Factors

  • Required to travel 75 to 80% of time, mostly overnight stays.

  • Ability to build relationships.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $74,275.00 - $100,489.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
