Job Summary

Responsible for providing quality and technical support for chemical products to engineering, R&D, product management, marketing, sales, and external customers.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Assists R&D with new product development, value analysis, value engineering (VAVE), and quality control evaluations through application trials.

• Documents all test results, inspections, and observations. Prepares and maintains quality control reports and records.

• Conducts training sessions using product presentations for chemical and cement products. Collaborates with the team to develop technical literature, labels, and marketing brochures.

• Develops and creates applied product samples for use as sales tools.

• Supports sales representatives with on-site assistance and troubleshooting of product issues. Provides backup telephone support for sales representatives.

• Contributes to the development of product specifications.

• Trains others in the operation of equipment used for the application of construction materials. Calibrates testing equipment to ensure accurate results.

• Actively participate in industry organizations to increase visibility and influence. Assist product and sales teams with specific projects as assigned.

Nature and Scope

• Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.

• Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.

Work Environment

• Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.

• Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.

• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Knowledge of testing methods and industry standards.

• Familiarity with testing equipment such as slump cones, air meters, and compression machines.
