The Surgery department has an exciting opportunity for a full time Supervisor, Medical Assistants position. The incumbent oversees the work of medical assistants and other relevant department staff. Moreover, the incumbent will lead and perform a variety of routine duties in the assigned hospital or clinic to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains inventory of vaccines and places orders in a timely fashion to maintain supply.
Ensures policies and procedures are followed by staff and performs disciplinary action.
Completes yearly performance evaluations for subordinate staff members.
Works with front desk to ensure all vouchers are completed timely and charges are captured and sent over with daily log.
Obtains vital signs and patient information for inclusion in the patient's medical record.
Gives injections or treatments, performs routine laboratory tests, and assists in other patient care activities, such as dressing changes and leg wraps.
Prepares treatment room for patient examination and assists with physical examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments to the doctor.
Provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures.
Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments, observing the principles of sterile technique.
Schedules patients for tests and completes required forms for laboratory work.
Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
Orders, stocks, and inventories supplies and assists in performing clerical duties.
Escorts and transports patients to various hospital locations.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Certified Medical Assistant Certification required.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
