Accountant – Fiscal Division

1350 Northwest 12th Avenue Miami, FL 33136Position Overview:
The Accountant is responsible for all accounting and fiscal management of grants and contracts awarded to the State Attorney’s Office. This individual works with the Fiscal Director in developing, implementing, and providing ongoing financial oversight to grants management operations, ensuring the appropriate use and accurate reporting of all financial transactions on grants and contracts. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and the work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Job Responsibilities are:
Preparing budgets and monitoring budget activity for grants
Reporting and financial compliance
Ensuring accounting transactions are properly recorded and consistent with terms of the grant/contract agreement
Resolving grant related accounting and reporting issues
Preparing monthly budget-versus-actual status reports
Identifying issues, concerns and problems, and initiate resolution
Approving invoices and expenses related to various grant programs managed
Entering grant transactions in the state accounting system and performing month-end reconciliations
Preparing invoices and requests for reimbursements from funding agencies and reconciling grant expenses to funder reports
Coordinate with grant program management to insure the budget and financial requirements are in line with the programmatic goals and objectives of the grant
Maintaining efficient electronic filing systems for financial records
Performing other related duties as assigned
The Minimum Requirements are:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of work experience performing various accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, budgeting, and auditing
Related work experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis for the required education college and grant experience
Must have working knowledge of Excel
The Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:
Having knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Having grant management/coordinating experience

Possess and demonstrate a good understanding of the organization’s overall business and its objective
Possess and demonstrate good knowledge of planning and strategizing financial and budgeting issues
Possess and demonstrate experience with basic financial management skills including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reporting
Be a multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure, independently and meet stringent deadlines
Be proficient in using computers with related knowledge of software programs and Internet
Work well in a group/team environment with a positive and professional attitude, and team spirit
Be flexible with their work schedule
Yearly Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $80,000.00 – Salary commensurate with experience
