The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Anesthesiology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time to work in Miami, FL. This position is within the Center for Patient Safety, a multi-disciplinary program dedicated to simulation-based medical education, patient-safety research, and implementation of best patient-safe practices throughout the health system. The Research Support Specialist performs a variety of duties involved in the collection, compilation, and documentation of research data related to the assigned research studies. The incumbent also assists with the implementation of daily study activities and provides statistical support to these activities.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Establishes patient/participant screening procedures with Principal Investigators and collects data from patient charts, medical records, training checklists, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests and other sources.

  • Researches, collects, analyzes, and synthesizes data and maintains databases.

  • Conducts quality assurance checks, reports on the status of research activities, and submits regular activity logs for protocol.

  • Organizes and coordinates research working group meetings for study activities.

  • Reviews study progress, identifies areas of opportunity, and recommends solutions.

  • Prepares and updates study research procedures manuals.

  • In collaboration with the PI, coordinates the planning and preparation of grant proposals

  • Contributes to the publication and presentation of significant results and writes and edits material for publication and presentation; serves as main point person for their submissions to journals

  • Maintains research files and responds to inquiries about the research projects;

  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining stock of necessary supplies for the research projects; adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Assists in any administrative related activities including time accounting, billing and ensures they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Establishes/maintains contact with patient/participants, health care providers, research collaborators and study sponsors.

  • Participates in education programming as necessary

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS ​

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.

  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
