NBC Universal Production Systems Engineer in Miami, Florida

NBC Universal is looking for a talented individual to become a Production Systems Engineer in the Production Engineering group for NBCU Operations and Technology (O&T) based in the Telemundo Center facility located in Miami, FL.  O&T supports Enterprise Technology, Broadcast and Production systems across NBCU globally.

The Production Systems Engineer is responsible for providing best-in-class live television production support for NBCU, supporting live and scripted/unscripted productions.  This position will also support the projects team, where and as required, to implement changes, enhancements, and support technology refresh and expansion projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and support maintenance of a broadcast production environment consisting of multiple studios and production control rooms.

  • Support virtualization and cloud initiatives, continuing deployment of virtual production systems both on-premise and in the cloud.

  • Maintain production systems by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.

  • Resolve support requests, monitor ticketing systems for new issues and assigned tasks, and performing preventative maintenance as assigned.

  • Write code to support automation, monitoring, and diagnostic tools.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years recent experience supporting television production, or streaming.

  • Proficient in both Linux/Windows operating systems.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to provide clear, decisive feedback while being prepared to pivot or change course when appropriate.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Understanding of AWS/Azure architecture and core services, AWS preferred.

  • Experience with programming in one of the following languages: Python, Bash, or PowerShell. 

  • Experience with systems monitoring tools such as Datadog, Op5, New Relic, etc.

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
