Citigroup Country Risk Limits Senior Officer - SVP in Miami, Florida
The Country Risk Senior Officer will be focused on Citi Mexico Franchise and will help us to manage the Country Risk Limits of the two Citi Mexican Banks after separation. Through Country Risk Limits, Citi defines risk appetite for the Country/. The person has to be a strategic professional and thinker who will closely follow the management and usage of such limits and will help in the approval process, in the monitoring and in the handling of breaches.
The person needs to have network capabilities and excellent communication skills in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others in decision making. Necessitates a degree of responsibility over technical strategy. Primarily affects a sub-function.
Responsibilities:
Be familiarized with the characteristics of the 2 Citi Mexican Banks and clearly understand Citi risk appetite for Mexico.
Involved in the definition of overall limits and in the segregation of them between the two Banks.
The person will be a facilitator of limit management which include approval and monitoring throughout Citi.
Involved in short- to medium-term planning of limits and actions needed around them.
Manages and analyzes risks associated with proposed limits in the context of Mexico and Citi overall risk apatite.
Assesses the implications to other Risk disciplines when proposing new limits. Engages and partners with key contacts globally to ensure successful implementation. Identifies potential mitigants of risk in particular situations or transactions.
Anticipates country needs and proactively generates ideas to deliver innovative solutions and improve Citi’s risk profile.
Ensures that escalated issues are resolved with urgency.
Responsible to monitor limits and escalate breaches as soon as reasonable. Help in the preparation and approval of remediation plans when needed.
Builds partnerships across functions/regions; collaborates with others to identify problems, provide solutions, and reach agreements. Creates and sustains a network of established relationships. Influences decisions that have impact on company revenues and assets.
Builds awareness around regulatory matters and/or highlighting potential regulatory issues that impacts Country Risk approvals, in particular around te Mexico market.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding of Citi.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience as a Credit Officer, Covering Limits, Risk Management & Controls.
Experience with Limit management & Risk Appetite.
Bi-lingual; Spanish.
Highly motivated, team oriented, organized. Excellent communication skills in order to persuade and negotiate internally
Able to understand and articulate data and analysis from a practical perspective.
Experience in developing solutions and action plans.
Able to manage technical staff Subject matter expert of an area of specialization with broad exposure to general business functions.
Familiar with Key Risk Indicators that are relevant to the areas covered; understands how they are collected.
Good analytical skills to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex material from multiple sources.
Strong negotiation and communication skills: ability to present to senior stakeholders
Proven ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences.
Demonstrated work ethic and influencing skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
